DRUG ADDICTION

“DRUGS ARE THE ENEMIES OF AMBITIONS AND HOPE AND WHEN WE FIGHT AGAINST DRUGS, WE ARE FIGHTING FOR THE FUTURE”

DRUG ADDICTION is the condition in which any drug is being used for the purpose other than it is formulated. In most of the case these abuse drugs are related to CNS related activity which cause feeling of well being.

I have done research on Drug addiction and what I learned from that is, it possess many serious consequence on a person’s well being, physical health and professional life. It can also cause or exacerbate mental health problems such as depression to psychosis. Those persons who are addicted to drugs can also face legal consequences such as prison sentences and losing rights such as voting. Not only this, they also face many financial consequences such as getting into debt, loss of job, Foreclosure and vehicle repossession. I have also learned that Drug abuse is also the reason of tension among family and friends. And of course the main consequence of Drug abuse is DEATH.

MOST COMMONLY USED DRUGS:

Some of the most commonly used drugs are:

· ALCOHOL

· COCAINE

· OPIOIDS

· AMPHETAMINE

· CLUB DRUGS

There are over 190 million drug users around the world and the problem keeps increasing at an alarming rate especially among young adults under the age of 30.

CAUSES OF DRUGS ADDICTION:

Some causes of drug abuse are as follows:

· INABILITY OF BRAIN TO PERFORM IT’S FUNCTIONS:
Repeated use of drug can alter the way in which the brain functions including the way the brain feels pressure. The addicting drug causes changes in your brain that interferes with the ability to think, control your behavior.

· SEND IMPULSES TO TAKE DRUGS:

Another cause of taking drugs is that, it sends impulses to your brain to take drugs. These changes in the brain is so challenging for drug users to stop taking drugs.

· PERSONALITY TRAITS:

Many drug abusers are immature and hence they are not able to cope with problems, anxieties and frustration. So they start taking drugs to deal with their problems.

· PEER PRESSURE:

The teenagers take drugs usually to be accepted by the group or else they may feel isolated. This is the reason that mostly teenagers are addicted to drugs.

· CURIOSITY:

This is one of the main reasons of drug addiction. Mostly children try drugs because they’re curious to taste it once in their lifetime. The first taste influences them to try it again and again and they got addicted to it.

SOLUTIONS FOR DRUG ADDICT:

“Prevention is better than cure”

There are many current solutions to control drug abuse but for me the most effective solutions that can prevent drug abuse are mainly,

· Set a goal to quit your drugs:

You may not be able to do it all at once, but setting the goal will help you chart your next steps.

· Counseling and other behavioral therapies:

It should be given to face problems and failure of life. So that a person should not go for drugs. Psychological doctors should treat drug abusers mentally and help them to come out of this addiction through their advice.

· Avoid undue peer pressure:

Don’t get influence with someone because everyone has own choice and personality, you should not pushed for undue performance. Make friends that are healthy and sober.

· One should seek help from parents and friends:

They should express their feelings to someone. Parents should also check out their children and should spent time with them so that they should not get involved in irrelevant activities such as DRUG ADDICTION.

· Do exercises:

It’s a scientific research that exercises are a best way to cure your drug addiction. Exercises including active play, outdoor adventure, team sports, martial arts and dance not only boost energy and keeps weight in check but also helps to prevent substance abuse. Exercises boost blood to the brain.

· Restrict use of drugs:

Use of drugs should be restricted only to doctors and those people who buy it for their medical treatment. And those people who sell it illegally should be sent to prison.

Having a drug addiction can make you feel as though there’s no hope for getting better. But no matter how bad things have gotten, you can beat your addiction with perseverance and patience.
